Homebound Services

The purpose of the Homebound Services provided by the Boulder City Library is to extend library services to those residents of the City of Boulder City, NV, who may not otherwise be able to visit the library.

To provide access to materials to patrons who are unable to come to the library themselves, we offer a 2-Tier program of Homebound Services. These services are intended for patrons who may need the services on either a long-term basis or a short-term basis.

Materials available through the Homebound Services are currently limited to items owned by the Boulder City Library. In addition to receiving materials, patrons may request In-Home Instruction for using our online services such as our catalog, magazines, electronic books and audio books and databases. The patron must have a computer at home with access to the internet to receive this instruction.

Tier 1 – Homebound Pick-Up Service

If you have a medical condition that restricts your ability to visit the library, you may arrange for a family member, caregiver or friend to come to the library and pick up materials for you. We will be happy to select materials for you each month, based on a Reader Interest Survey which you complete in advance. You may also request specific items through our online catalog or by calling the Reference Desk at the library. You will receive an extended loan period, and your items will be ready for pick-up at the library on a mutually agreed upon date. As long as none of these items is on hold by another patron, you will be able to renew these items by calling the library at 702-293-1281. Please have your library card number available at the time you call. Homebound Patrons will be held responsible for materials should they be lost or damaged.

Tier 2 – Homebound Delivery Services

If you have a medical condition that restricts your ability to visit the library and you have no one who is able to come to the library and pick up materials for you, we offer monthly home delivery service. We will be happy to select materials for you each month, based on a Reader Interest Survey which you complete in advance. You may also request specific items through our online catalog or by calling the Reference Desk at the library. We will deliver materials not more than once each month. Items will have an extended loan period, and we will waive overdue fines should the Library Service be unavailable on the due date. As long as none of these items is on hold by another patron, you will be able to renew these items by calling the library at 702-293-1281. Please have your library card number available at the time you call. Homebound Patrons will be held responsible for materials should they be lost or damaged. Library Staff will call in advance to schedule delivery/pick-up.

If a patron gets out regularly to shop, travel, or run errands, that patron is not eligible for Homebound Delivery Services, but may be eligible for Homebound Pick-Up services as described in Tier 1. Confirmation by Boulder City Library’s Homebound Coordinator is required for either service.
