veterans-day-eagleThe Library will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th in honor of Veteran’s Day. We will reopen Thursday, November 12th at 9 AM.

Facts About Veteran’s Day

  • Originated as Armistice Day on the first anniversary of the end of World War I in 1919
  • In 1926, a resolution was passed for annual observance, with November 11th becoming the official national holiday in 1938.
  • In 1954, President Eisenhower officially change the name to Veteran’s Day
  • The date has been moved around. From 1971-1975 Veterans Day was the fourth Monday in October. It was changed back in 1975.
  • Veteran’s Day pays tribute to all American veterans. Thank you for your service.
