Banned Books Week: Celebrating 30 Years of Liberating Literature

This is the 30th year of ALA’s Banned Book Week. According to Banned Book Week.org, “Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. More than 11,300 books have been challenged since 1982. For more information on Banned Books Week, click here.”

ALA has created a timeline to walk you through the books that have been challenged and banned during that time period.
